Waterbodies is a participatory performance that invites communities to reflect on the protection of water as a common good. Through an immersive aesthetic language using sound, movement and image, the performance reveals the ecological and social challenges affecting water systems, connecting local realities in Berlin with global struggles for water justice.
The performance unfolds in an open aesthetic space where audiences share the experience with performers. This sensory encounter creates an emotional understanding of the urgency of protecting water and the ecosystems that sustain life.
After the performance, a participatory forum opens a space for civic engagement where audiences collectively analyse the issues presented and explore strategies to protect water as a common good. Inspired by practices of Legislative Theatre, participants are invited to formulate concrete proposals and civic initiatives aimed at strengthening the legal protection of water bodies and the recognition of water ecosystems as entities with legal rights. In this way, the project transforms cultural participation into a space for democratic participation and collective action.
