Bridge Makers roundtable four: Athens

Cultural spaces, civic groups, and local municipalities form a living urban ecosystem. Currently, this ecosystem is fragmented and isolated. Hosted by our Athens-based member Culture for Change, the fourth gathering in the Bridge Makers cycle will focus on the transformative power of culture to build bridges among the many stakeholders of a city, allowing knowledge to flow, resources to be shared, and trust to flourish.

The event will aim at the creation of a participatory roadmap for transformative local actions. This will serve as an open-source, practical toolkit designed to support municipal strategies in collaboration with while empowering independent cultural and civil society actors.

Roundtables

Participants will be able to choose between the following roundtables:

Roundtable 1: Transforming Governance (The Symbiotic Bridges)

Focus: Developing healthy, horizontal co-management models.  Addressing the practical and relational barriers (procurement rules, political turnover, mutual suspicion) that block sustained partnership, with public officials and NGO leaders in direct dialogue. Seeing the bigger picture of collaboration.

Roundtable 2: Transforming Community (The Social Resilience & Democracy Bridges)

Focus: Cultural centers as vital social infrastructure. Exploring how socio-cultural spaces can build democratic resilience, integrate marginalized groups, and serve as neighborhood "safe havens" in times of crisis. Cooperation model with municipalities and regions.

Roundtable 3: Financing the Alliance: Sustainable Models for Cross-Sector Collaboration

Focus: Public funding instruments, EU programs, hybrid financing, and how municipalities can de-risk collaboration with informal or under-resourced cultural actors.
